Example of a Roofing Shingle

There’s only one rule when it comes to deciding on the design of your roofing shingles: there aren’t any rules. Yes, we said it. Your options are limitless. Choosing the right color and pattern for your shingles is a big factor in your roofing decision. And believe us when we tell you that we carry a greater variety of shades made by CertainTeed, just right for you. These shades include:

  • Terra Cotta
  • Black Pearl
  • Weathered Wood
  • Tudor Brown
  • Stonegate Gray
  • Sherwood Forest
  • Georgian Brick
  • Gatehouse Slate
  • Colonial Slate
  • Brownstone

Let’s say you have a deep blue, brown, or green home. We recommend that you choose one of CertainTeed’s darker roofing shingle colors, so that it would be easier to harmonize with your home’s color design. By choosing a darker hue helps add stability and neutrality, and by choosing the right shingle pattern will help create a “pop” to your home. A few shingle patterns that we carry are:

  • Carriage House
  • Mountain Ridge
  • Belmont
  • Grand Manor
  • Arcadia Shake

Fiberglass Shingles vs. Organic Roofing Shingle

When deciding on which type of shingles to choose from, here are a few things to consider:

Organic shingles are known to be made from felt or paper soaked in asphalt and then coated with an additional thick layer of asphalt. These shingles can be quite affordable, durable, waterproof, and sometimes can last up to 20 years. Fiberglass shingles, however, contain less asphalt than organic shingles and tend to work better/is more preferred because of its flame-retardant and heat-resistance. Both types of shingles look the same, the difference is the layer in the fiberglass shingle; it absorbs less moisture and is more resistant to heat than organic shingles.
